Making mockery of EC's jurisdiction

It is strange that BJP claiming to be a party with a difference, its senior leaders presently charged with an offence under IPC relating to the production of a CD fuelling anti-Muslim communal sentiments during the assembly polls in Up underway, is now daring the EC dictating that EC is not empowered to cancell BJP's Registeration. To uphold the country's honour and democracy, Election Commission should firmly and appropriately excercise its rights and jurisdiction to deal with defiant BJP, so as to set an example for others.

The Election Commission should not just remain content with filing an FIR against the BJP leaders in UP for distributing & circulating a CD that apparently contains highly provocative & anti-Muslim communal propaganda. It should use all the authority at its command to ensure that those party members & leaders of this irresponsible party, who have conceived, manufactured & distributed the offending CD that may inflame passions that could in turn result in disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in the state while it has geared up for a mammoth electoral exercise, are brought to book.

However, when one considers that the B J P found it necessary to go for this kind of clandestine election propaganda shows that the party is desperate & is trying to use ‘all’ fair or ‘foul’ methods to improve its chances at the hustling. All the election forecasts done so far have indicated that the B J P’s performance this time around may be worse than its previous performance. And since it’s previous performance was itself a ‘poor’ third position behind the SP & BSP, such acts of desperation from its members in its UP wing are understandable but certainly, not pardonable.
