The earthquake came, stayed on for a few minutes and destroyed towns,
the lives of the people there, aspirations and everything in sight.
Admist all this chaos there were hopes of survival. survival of
loved ones, family and friends. But not many lived to see the light
of the day.
Not so far away from all this mayhem, here in Mumbai life experienced a jolt
although a very small one but a very scary one nevertheless. The pictures
of people dying, searching for their friends and family was still fresh
in their minds when something happened that scared the daylights out
of them.
31st Jan, 8'o clock, CST station. life went on like usual with people rushing
home after a hard day's work. The platforms of the station were full of
people. when all of a sudden - "BAM" - there was a loud noise of something
crashing. Everything came to a standtill. no one moved. The noise was of
something huge falling on the roof of the magnificient CST station. It
reminded the crowd of the scenes of the shattered town Bhuj. Life
flashed before their eyes. what could it be? is it an earthquake?
is the station going to crash down? Questions zip-zapped in a fraction
of a second. But when people realised that that there was no sound
for the next minute or so, they rushed back to their trains and
back home to their families. Lucky.
But not everyone is. more people have died then lived in this disaster.
children have been orphaned, and the grief is only growing. we cannot
lessen that but atleast on our part make an effort to help them in
their hour of need. lets do our bit, they need us.
