To some
its a laugh riot. To others its a complete turn-off. But men
in drag, with pouting lips smeared with lipstick, mascaraed eyelashes drooping
seductively and eye-shadowed eyes giving the come-hither look, have long
been a part of Hindi movies. In recent years they have acted as a kind of
sub-plot in the story of cinema, cropping up from time to time as a lively
diversion from the central plot. But sometimes, drag is used as the main
vehicle for the evolution of the storyline, in films like Biwi Aur Makan,
Rafoo Chakkar, Mr Shrimati and more recently, Chachi 420 and the forthcoming
Aunty No. 1.
