According to Chief Public Relation Officer for the WR, the new inquiry number will work like a train inquiry call centre. “The Integrated Train Enquiry System will consist of four centres — North, South, East and West—- to handle calls. Initially, inquiries can be accessed through MTNL and BSNL phones on 139. The services can be accessed through local call and will be available 24 hours,” he said.
The inquiries will be available in Hindi, English, Marathi and Gujarati and trained customer care executives will be at the service for commuters in distress.
This project under Integrated Train Inquiry System (ITES) is based on Public Private Partnership and is being implemented by Indian Rail Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS).
