Kolkata, December 1: A Kolkata police constable allegedly dishonoured the national flag during the second day of the second Test match between India and Pakistan at Eden Gardens.

The constable, who was on duty at gate no 2 of the stadium, allegedly took the flag from a spectator and threw it on the ground, police officials said.

"We have come to know about the incident and after that the constable has been called off from the duty. We will have a departmental enquiry and if he is found guilty, he will be punished," Additional Commissioner of Police S N Sarkar said.

The incident occurred beside the sightscreen. There was an instruction that nobody should be allowed with any colourful banner or poster as that might disturb the concentration of the players, Sarkar added.

Kolkata Police Commissioner Goutam Mohan Chakraborty said, "We will take action if the person is found guilty".
