Pubs, discos can open till 2 am

Chandigarh, December 7 District Magistrate (UT) R K Rao has prohibited commercial operations in the business of restaurants, discos, clubs and vendors by the roads and in public spaces, between 1 am and 4.30 am.

According to the order, the prohibition will be for a period of 60 days, from December 8 till February 5 next year. Sale and service of liquor will be governed by the Excise Law.

The order will not apply to coffee shops in hotels, hospitals, chemists shops and petrol pumps. The restaurants, pubs, discos and clubs have been allowed to be open upto 2 am on Saturdays and Sundays (while the sale and service of liquor will be governed separately by the Excise Law).
