State Congress chief Bharatsinh Solanki was diagnosed with peptic ulcer close to the end of the polls, while BJP chief Purshottam Rupala came back home from Gandhinagar and renewed his driving licence on Monday.
But party leaders are also keeping an eye on the voter turnout, aware of the impending reports to be tackled, egos to be soothed as well as bills to be settled, as money flowed too liberally from both party camps this election.
Hailing from Borsad, wherein his maternal family has ruled the politics since decades, Solanki returned back to his native place from Ahmedabad on Saturday night itself. After a late day start, he spent the better half of Monday in an Anand hospital getting a medical check-up and drawing up recuperation plans.
"The last fortnight was bad; I survived on medication, but there was travelling to be done, meetings to be addressed. It was bad being restricted to a diet of plain khichri and milk," said Solanki.
Solanki is now drawing up plans for the future work to be done, during his rest.
The BJP state chief after manning the party's Khanpur office in Ahmedabad till 8 pm on Sunday, getting poll figures and other details from different constituencies, went home and slept for long hours.
Rupala hails from the small village of Ishwaria in Amreli district, but lives with his family in Gandhinagar. Rupala said, "On Monday, I met two visitors who had come to see me. Then I went to renew my driving license as it had got expired. Though I haven't planned anything for the next week, but I will try to attend all the family affairs and events back home." Rupala has a son and a daughter. He further said, "I am not tired at all as I was doing the job of my choice."
