New Delhi, January 1: In the wake of a militant attack on a CRPF camp in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP on Tuesday accused the Centre and the state government of failing to tackle terrorism strongly.

The saffron party has demanded stern action to fight the militants.

"More than half of the districts of Uttar Pradesh have become safe centres for terrorist activities," senior BJP leader Mukhtar Ababs Naqvi said in New Delhi.

Alleging that such attacks have been on the rise while the governments have remained a mute spectator, Naqvi said he has asked the Centre to take immediate steps to curb terrorism in the country.

Naqvi along with BJP president Rajnath Singh left for Rampur this morning for an on-the-spot assesment of the incident.

Heavily-armed militants attacked CRPF troop centre, killing eight persons, including seven security personnel.
