Kolkata, January 2 Flight schedule of 40 planes was disrupted as the main radar at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport here went off the air for about an hour, forcing the Air Traffic Controllers to use other communication system.

Kolkata airport sources said the snag, caused by power breakdown in the morning hours, affected the movement of 40 incoming and outgoing flights.

Besides, some overflying flights were also affected as the ATC relied on VHS and other communication systems to keep contact with the pilot and track aircraft movement.

ATC officials said though there was some delay in landing and take off of planes during the period, the situation gradually returned to normal once power was restored.
