V-C in Saswati’s hostel: Doing my duty as family head

Kolkata, January 9 The Vice-Chancellor of Visva Bharati University, Rajat Kanti Roy, today visited Ananda Bhavan, the girls’ hostel where Saswati Pal was shot dead by an outsider on Sunday.

Roy, who was in Bangalore when the incident took place, visited Chatimtolla and sat on a fast till the evening.

“I am doing my duty as the head of the family,” he said after offering prayers.

Amaresh Kundu had killed Saswati before committing suicide in her room on Sunday.

Meanwhile, police today handed over the keys of the hostel room to the university authorities. The authorities maintained strict vigil on the campus and restricted visitors from entering the eleven hostels for girl students.
