Kolkata, February 3 A 52-year-old man jumped to his death, apparently from the 12-storeyed BSNL building in Bowbazar today. The deceased, later identified as Gopal Narayan Tiwari, sustained multiple fractures and severe head injuries.

Deputy Commissioner (Central) Ajay Ranade said: “Tiwari had been living at Hridaypur in Salt Lake for the last five years. He was estranged from his family and worked as a private tutor. It seems to be a case of suicide. We have sent the body for postmortem.”

Earlier, Tiwari was living at Kali Krishna Tagore Street with his family but separated from his wife, son and daughter. He was reportedly suffering from depression.

“We have contacted his family members and his in-laws in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district,” said a police officer.
