Kolkata, February 12 Several sub-committees have been formed for the smooth running of the Kolkata Book Fair to be held in March at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan in Salt Lake Stadium. About 10 separate committees have been formed for transport, management, finance and other issues related to the fair.

The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting convened at the Salt Lake Stadium office on Tuesday evening.

The Publishers and Bookseller Guild, along with three other publishers’ associations — the All Bengal Publishers Association, Publishers and Book Sellers Association of Bengal and Paschim Banga Prakashak Sabha — has been included as members of the sub-committees.

The ground infrastructure and stall committee, which will be in charge of allocating space to set up stalls in the stadium area, includes Guild contractor S Banerjee. He has been involved with the Guild for the last 32 years.

“Though the Guild is assisting the state government in organising the book fair, it still enjoys an upperhand. The involvement of their contractor is a case in point,” said a source present in the meeting.

“We have not decided on the number of stalls. We will fix it in a meeting scheduled for February 14,” said Guild’s Sudhanshu De.
