JMTA to host ITF Men’s Futures tournament

Kolkata, February 13 National champion Vishnu Vardhan will be joining India’s other young guns Karan Rastogi, Aqeel Khan and Vivek Shokeen, among others, in the Coal India ITF Men’s Futures Tennis Tournament to be held at the Jaidip Mukherjea Tennis Academy from February 18 to 23.

The tournament, featuring a clutch of young players from abroad, carries prize money worth US$ 15,000 and more importantly, valuable ATP points, which are essential for upcoming players. At a press meet to announce the event’s launch, tennis heavyweight Jaidip Mukherjea stressed on the importance of such junior tournaments called upon the media for giving more exposure to such tournaments.

Karan Rastogi of India (469), 6. Peng Sun of China (493), 7. David Savic of Serbia (503), 8. Aqeel Khan of Pakistan (539), 9. Hyun-Woo Nam of Korea (545), 10. Ashutosh Singh of India (566), 11. Alexey Kedryuk of Kazakisthan (595), 12. Yu Jr. Wang of China (607) 13. Divij Sharan of India (623), 14. Aditya Madkekar of India (666), 15. Tsung-Hua Yang of Taipei (684), 16. Vivek Shokeen of India (666), 17. Vijay Kannan of India (714) and 18. Hsin-Han Lee of Taipei (724). National Champion Karan Rastogi has bee given a wildcard, and three more wildcards will be allotted at a later date. The qualifying rounds will be played on February 16 and 17 and eight qualifiers will make it through to join the players in the main draw.
