Kolkata, February 21 There were three major upsets in the 2nd round of the Coal India ITF Tennis Tournament when Guillermo Alcaide of Spain seeded second, Todor Enev of Bulgaria seeded third and Matteo Volante of Italy seeded fourth crashed out. Alcaide lost 4-6, 3-6, 3-6 to Hyun Woo Nam of South Korea,while Enev was defeated by Alxey Kedryuk 3-6, 5-7 and Volante went down in three sets to Vaja UZokov of Uzbekistan 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.
India’s challenge in the singles event ended in the quarters with Vivek Shokeen losing to top seed Alexander Satschko of Germany 5-7, 1-6 and VM Ranjeet going down to Hyun Woo Nam of South Korea 2-6, 1-6. The two semi-finalists are David Savic of Serbia who beat Kedryuk 7-5, 6-4 and Tsung Hua Yang of Taipei who defeated Uzokov 6-2, 4-6, 6-0.
