Kolkata, February 25 Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today reached Park Street to protest against the demolition of a heritage building, only to find a KMC team there was pulling down a nearby building.

Thanks to the confusion created by the residents of 85, Park Street — a heritage building of the Nawabs of Murshidabad — Banerjee reached the site accompanied by Rajib Deb and Javed Ahmed Khan. The families residing at the heritage building have already received a notice from the Murshidabad office of the Nawab’s descendants asking them to evacuate the house. So, today afternoon when the demolition team of the KMC arrived there, panic-stricken residents called Banerjee.

However, before leaving Banerjee said: “ We will continue to agitate if the CPM-backed KMC dares to demolish any heritage building in the city.”
