Kolkata, February 27 A businessman committed suicide by shooting himself with his revolver in his office in South Kolkata on Wednesday.

The incident took pace at around 5.45 pm at his export firm, Dragon Star Leathers, on the Monoharpukur Road under the Tollygunge police station area.

Preliminary investigation points out that Bidyutbihari Chatterjee (57) had an outstanding income tax of Rs 2 crore, which he came to know about from a recent notice. This depressed him very much, police said.

He told his staff not to disturb him. Around 5.45 pm, the staff heard a gunshot from his room. His body was found lying in a pool of blood.

He had a bullet wound on his head. His revolver lay beside him, police said. Chatterjee is survived by his wife and a daughter.
