Kolkata, March 4 Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) has planned a three-day protest movement across the state from March 6 to 8 to demonstrate against the fresh violence that rocked Nandigram on Saturday.

It will hold protests across the state by gheraoing all block development officers (BDOs) and district magistrates. It also plans to observe March 14 as a black day, said SUCI state secretary Prabhas Ghosh. “The fresh violence in Nandigram reminds us of the March 14 violence, which killed 14 people. Hence, we have planned this movement to prevent the repetition of the incident,” Ghosh said.

On March 6, SUCI supporters will gherao the offices of all district magistrates across the state. On the same day, a rally will be taken out from College Square to Esplanade in Kolkata.

On March 7, SUCI members will gherao the offices of the block development officers all over the state. The following day, which happens to be the International Women’s Day, a team comprising women supporters of SUCI will head for Nandigram.
