Patna, March 5: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday sought Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s intervention to iron out ‘differences’ between his state and some Maharashtrian leaders in the wake of anti-Bihar statements from Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray.

Kumar requested Singh to convene “a meeting of leaders from both Bihar and Maharashtra to sort out differences”.

“We have to put a stop to these,” he said in Patna.

The Chief Minister’s comments came in the wake of Thackeray targeting Biharis saying they were an “unwanted lot” in all parts of the country.

Kumar said Bihar shares a “very strong and harmonious” relationship with the whole of the country. “We help each other to help the country develop,” he added.
