Seema re-enacts murder scene

Kolkata, March 8 Unconvinced by Seema Soi’s confession of murdering her two daughters to escape mental torture inflicted by her in-laws for giving birth to girls, the Howrah police are taking her to different places to re-enact the chain of events that led her to commit the crime at a water reservoir in Belur Math.

Howrah SP Neeraj Singh said, “Her statements are being re-verified and we are taking her to various areas in Howrah and Burdwan, including the murder spot, for verifying her claims. She is being asked to enact the crime scene.”

On Friday, she was taken to the Belur Math reservoir where she had allegedly drowned her daughters — 4-year-old Sia and 7-month-old Ria.

Initially, she had told the police that on March 4, she was feeling unwell and decided to go to a nursing home at Khosbagan. On her way back, she felt thirsty and asked a rickshaw-puller for a glass of water. “I fell unconscious soon after drinking the water and woke up late at night. I found myself lying at Burdwan bus stand. My kids had vanished,” Seema had told the police them. She, however, later confessed to the crime.
