Last date to apply for PM’s scholarship extended

Chandigarh, March 14 The last date for submission of applications for the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for this academic year 2007-08 has been extended to March 31.

The scheme has been started for the wards of ex-serviceman/ widows.

Wards of ex-servicemen/ widows, who have scored 60 per cent or more marks in XII exams or are studying any professional courses approved by AICTE, are eligible for the scholarship.

First professional degree programmes in engineering, medicine, dental, veterinary, MBA, MCA, etc. are the courses for the scholarship scheme.

All those who got admission in their first year in the academic year 2006-07 and later, are eligible for the scheme.

The scholarship of Rs. 1250 per month for boys and Rs 1500 per month for girls will be paid annually for 2 to 5 years depending upon the duration of the courses.
