202 units of blood collected at 2 camps

Ludhiana, March 24 Two voluntary blood donation camps were organised at Lions Club, Mandi Nihal Singh Wala and Nagar Vikas Sabha Chaukiman village on Sunday in the memory of martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev in collaboration with the Department of Transfusion Medicine, DMC Hospital. A total of 202 units of blood were collected in total at these camps.

Lions Club Mandi Nihal Singh Wala blood donation camp was organised with the help of Pawan Goyal, President and Ram Lal Jain, Chairman of this project. The camp was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker, Pubjab Legislative Assembly, Satpal Gosain, who announced to give Rs 1 lakh to Punjab Thalassemic Children Welfare Society.

On this occasion, Dr Amarjit Kaur, professor and head, Department of Transfusion Medicine, appreciated the endeavour to hold the blood donation camp. The blood collected at the camp would be used for thalassemic children only because life of these children depends only on blood and blood components.

The blood collected will be thoroughly processed and screened, said Dr Sonia Singla, Assistant Professor, Department of Transfusion Medicine. As many as 136 units of blood were collected.

H.K. Singla, SMO, Jagraon, was the chief guest at the camp at Chaukiman, which was organised by Jagmail Singh, President. 66 units of blood were collected, said Dr Nisha Dua, Senior Resident of the Department.
