The chairman of the oldest soccer clubs - Sheffield Football Club (formed 1889) Richard Tim hopped into the Mumbai FC football house on Tuesday for a ‘exploratory meeting’ with the Mumbai FC officials.
The Sheffield and Mumbai FC officials met at Soccerex in Johannesburg, South Africa and in order to carry the short meeting to the next level, Tim came for a short visit to Mumbai.
He said, “We have a lot in common with Mumbai Football Club as I saw that they conducted a huge football junior-champs tournament in the city and we also believe in grassroot development and community projects.”
Sheffield Football Club, who own a club in China do not intend to own property in India, but Tim elaborates, “But we are looking for a joint venture or a partnership in India.”
He was surprised with the kind of infrastructure available at the club, and said, “There is enormous potential in India but we function in a different way. We would like to invest in the infrastructure here in India in the future.”
