Kolkata, March 29 Trinamool Congress supporters led by MLA Javed Khan reportedly blocked bridge number 4, paralysing traffic between EM Bypass and roads branching to Park Circus and adjoining areas on Saturday.

The protestors were demanding “justice” for Rizwanur Rahman’s family.

Rizwanur’s elder brother Rukbanur and uncles Jalisur and Wahidur also participated in the blockade.

Khan said, “The party workers had blocked both sides of the bridge. We feel that the government is trying to hush up the issue. Rizwanur’s family believes that he was murdered and did not commit suicide.” The blockade started around 1.15 pm. Khan said his party will continue to highlight the issue till justice is delivered.

Rukbanur denied any political connection to the blockade.

“The government should ensure that justice is delivered soon. We had participated in this programme as it was not possible for us to raise the issue alone,” he added.
