Kolkata, March 31 The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths suspect that Mohammed Mafizur Rahaman alias Mamun mian, a recently arrested ISI agent, had been passing off classified information regarding Indian Army base camps to Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence over the last few months.

A senior CID officer said maps and colour photographs of the Indian Army’s Sukna, Khaprail and Binnaguri base camps in North Bengal were found in a CD recovered from him. Mamum, wanted in Bangladesh for his involvement in at least 10 criminal cases, had recruited youths to collect information regarding deployment of army jawans and location of camps.

After his arrest a hunt has been launched to nab the members of the crime syndicate that had received consignments of arms and ammunition from him, said a senior CID officer. The officers are also hoping that they would be able to track more associates of Mamun after examining his mobile phone. Mamum, arrested in Tripura by CID sleuths on Friday night, has told police that he had supplied arms to criminals in Kolkata and neighbouring districts in last two years.
