Boy ‘beaten’ by police: Counsel seeks fresh medical examination

Chandigarh, April 08 Raising questions on the authenticity of the medical report submitted in the case of alleged beating of a nine-year-old orphan boy, his counsel Advocate T S Sudan moved an application demanding constitution of a medical board.

Allowing the application, a local court today directed the medical superintendent, GMCH-32, to constitute a special board comprising three doctors and examine the boy to ensure if any blunt injuries were inflicted on him.

The medical report in this case, submitted in the court on Monday, stated there were “No fresh injuries”.

“I was not convinced with the one sentence medical report. Thus, I moved an application demanding fresh medical examination,” said Sudan.

The case had drawn attention of a court after the police allegedly beat up a nine-year-old orphan in their custody. After taking note of the allegations, the court had ordered for his medical examination.The boy is at present lodged in juvenile home in Sector 25, Chandigarh.
