Guwahati, April 10: The Assam government clarified that no decision has been taken on offering safe passage to ULFA cadres during the ensuing Rongali Bihu, the spring festival celebrating new year.

Reacting to media reports on the issue, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the government till now has not taken any decision to offer safe passage to the ULFA. Gogoi made it clear that the "government has so far not taken such a decision for the members of the outfit".

The government over the years has been offering safe passage during Bihu for cadres who wished to join their families but there has been no favourable response from the banned outfit's side so far.

The government was reacting to reports that a decision has been taken by the state cabinet offering safe passage as a goodwill measure to revive the stalled peace process.
