New Delhi, April 13 In a bid to make themselves more citizen-friendly, the Delhi Police is planning to use the television as a tool to create awareness about the working of the force and various schemes implemented by it to improve law and order in the Capital.

The police already have a programme in place on Door Darshan called Crime Watch, aired from 7.30 to 8.00 pm. The contract for this programme has expired and the police are now looking for a contract with a new production house.

Delhi Police PRO Rajan Bagat said the programme might become more exciting: “Once a production group has been identified, the content will be discussed and we may look at improving the programme.”

Police officers said the programme is set to hit television sets this May. A police officer said the television has great reach and it would be the best tool to reach out to people. Asked whether they have finalized the content for the programme, the officer said they were working on an “attractive” package.
