12-year-old boy knocked down by bus

Kolkata, April 14 There was commotion on APC Road near Khanna cinema hall after a 12-year-old boy was knocked down by a speeding private bus, at 11:45 am on Monday. Soon after the incident, locals ransacked the bus and blocked the road. Police have seized the bus, but the driver and conductor managed to flee from the spot.

According to police, Binay Hela (12), a local resident, was crossing the road when a speeding private bus on route L238 knocked him down. He was rushed to Nilratan Sarkar Medical College Hospital and admitted there.

Meanwhile, irate locals gathered on the Street and ransacked the private bus. They also blocked the road demanding better traffic policing at the crossing. A huge contingent of policemen rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.

“The boy was injured in the accident which infuriated locals who ransacked the private bus. They also set up a road blockade. We rushed to the spot and controlled the situation,” said Pal lab Gosh, Deputy Commissioner of police (north).
