With police having no information of Das, who was lynched by ashramites soon after he went on a killing spree, they are pinning hopes on information collected from these three states, as the dead murderer often used to visit ashrams there.
"All we have got is statements. We are yet to get any concrete information on Kalipada. No one seems to know from where he came and who are his relatives," said an investigating officer. The police, however, hinted that a powerful group of the ashram could be involved in the murders.
Meanwhile, even as several devotees thronged Gurudham today to pay their last respects to Mamoni, efforts were on by the ashram authorities to preserve her body, which has started decaying.
"Since the body is decomposing fast we have decided to keep it in a coffin covered with ice. The body will be kept inside the coffin till April 26 after which it will be kept in a samadhi inside the ashram," said Supriyo Kar, assistant secretary of the sect.
