Football match for Myanmar prisoners

kolkata, April 23 The Sports Department of the West Bengal government has pitched in for the freedom of 34 Myanmarese prisoners undergoing trial at Bankshal court. The department is organising a football match on April 26 betweenEast Bengal and the football team of Mizzima, the group that represents Myanmarese expatriates in India.

Minister for Sports and Transport, Subhas Chakraborty said: “They were helping RAW, India’s external security agency. But six of them were shot dead while coming from the Andaman Islands. We apprehend that they will not get fair trial.”

“Military Junta has trampled down the Burmese people. The match is being organised to express solidarity with those people,” the minister said.
