3 workers die after gas leak in Karnal factory

Chandigarh, May 09 Three labourers working in Parkash Iron Foundry, situated on Gogripur road in Karnal, were killed and another labourer fell unconscious today after poisonous gas leaked from the chimney of the foundry.

Reports said three labourers, namely Akbar Ali, 35, a resident of Dadupur village; Satish Kumar, 27, of Pingli village, and Jasmer, 25, of Narukheri village, died on the spot after inhaling the poisonous gas.

The fourth person, Rajender Kumar, 25, of Pingli village fell unconscious within the foundry and is reportedly out of danger. The incident occurred at 6 am. The labourers had been working in the foundry for the past eight years. On receiving information, the police reached the spot. On the basis of a complaint filed by labourer Mangal Singh, the police have registered a case against the owner of the foundry, Babu Ram, under Section 304-A of the IPC.
