Kolkata, May 16 The lifting of the stay on the OBC quota in the IIMs by the SC has offered a relief to the IIM-C as it can now speed-up the admission process to its courses. The institute, however, is waiting for the final nod from the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development.

“We have not received the Court order. After studying it we will be going ahead with the admission process,” said Subir Bhattacharya, the acting director of the IIM-C.

The authorities at the institute said that since the Central ministry was a party to the court case, they would go by the recommendations of the ministry. The institute might send offer letters next week to OBC candidates as it held group discussions and personal interviews of 20 OBC candidates on Thursday. The authorities argued that the stay was on the reservation clause and not on conducting an interview.

The next batch would start from June 23. Usually the students get three weeks to join classes from the date of receiving the offer letter but owing to the delay, the candidates would get shorter period this year.
