Over 30,000 people were killed in the devastating earthquake in China that rendered millions of people homeless.
The Indian government has already sent relief materials to the country.
This is the first time that the chief minister is visiting the Chinese consulate since it started functioning in January this year.
“The Chinese government has declared a national mourning between May 19 and May 22 and all missions across the world have been told to keep condolence books there. Yesterday many dignitaries, including the consul-generals of several countries came and signed the book and the chief minister will be coming tomorrow,” Mao Siwei, Consul-General of China in Kolkata, told The Indian Express.
