In the Class XII CBSE examinations results declared on Friday, the students of Humanities and Commerce streams were among the chart toppers.
A Commerce student of the Mahadevi Birla School for Girls’, Riddhi Kabra scored 96.4 per cent marks along with two Science students, Neha Pincha from the same school and Debasish Mukherjee, a student of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
Six of the 46 students of the Humanities stream of the Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan got more than 90 per cent marks, as Saheli Nath topped the chart with 95.2 per cent marks.
“I was advised to study Science but I took up Humanities. It is a misconception that Humanities subjects do not fetch marks,” she said.
Neha Pincha is not interested in engineering and medical sciences but is looking for a career in biotechnology. Her schoolmate, Ellora Nath has topped the Class X examinations in her school.
In Birla High School for Boys, of the 98 Science students four secured more than 90 per cent marks, whereas of the 130 commerce students, 27 got more than 90 per cent marks.
The overall result of the Allahabad Zone under which the state comes stood at 75.23 per cent. The pass percentage nationally was recorded at 80.91 per cent.
“The results of about 49 schools under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan have dipped slightly to 90.92 per cent compared to last year’s 93.83 per cent,” said Sandhya Rastogi, Assistant Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

Riddhi did not take up Science because she was interested in becoming a corporate lawyer. She comes from a business family in Behala and has appeared for various examinations like NALSAR and NLS.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
A national-level chess player, she won National Age Group title under-9 in 1998, under-14 in 2002 and under-16 in 2004. She also holds an Asian title. Despite scoring 91.9 per cent in Class X, she took up Arts, as she was passionate about economics.
Aspiring to study at a US university, she wants to pursue fine Arts and Humanities.

17-year-old Debasish Mukherjee aspires to be a doctor and recently appeared for the CBSE medical entrance examination.
Madhyamik examination results to be declared on May 28
The results of Madhyamik examination, 2008 will be declared on May 28 at 9 am.
The marksheets will be distributed after 10 am from the various centers of the board.

A total of 7,46,194 candidates appeared in the examination across the state, which started in February this year.
