“Time and again I have been saying that we are not against industry. It is of vital importance to us. Some people might have sold their land at Singur because they needed money. I have nothing to say regarding this. But I want the government to return the land to other farmers. If that happens the factory may come up,” said the TMC chief.
Notably, she was vehemently against the factory earlier.
Claiming that no industrialist needs 1000 acres of land for a car-manufacturing unit, she said, “Such a factory can come up in just 500-600 acres of land. You cannot acquire land for shopping malls, restaurants and bars. The government must return the additional land to the unwilling farmers.” The Left Front partners like RSP and CPI have also demanded that the state government return the land to the unwilling farmers of Singur.
The TMC chief has been interacting with the newly- elected members of the various Zilla Parishads for the last three days.
On Saturday she will visit Nandigram and after that she will have an interactive session with members of East Midnapur Zilla Parishad, which has been won by the party.
