Nilanjan of Akra Shaktigarh Rabindra Vidhyapith has scored a whopping 797 out of 800 in the Madhamik examination this year. His father, Nirmalendu Das, a small time trader, was finding it hard to hold back his tears after he came to know about the results. “He has always been a good student and we knew that he would make us proud,” he said. Nilanjan wants to be a researcher in mathematics. A big cricket buff, Nilanjan missed out on the IPL matches but he kept track of Kolkata Knight Riders performance.
Samarjit Chakraborty
Samarjit of Barasat PCS Government School does not like to study History and yet with an impressive 89 marks in the same subject his total aggregate is 796 in the West Bengal Secondary Examinations. “I expected to score above 770 but this is quite a pleasant surprise,” he said. A fan of Shah Rukh Khan, he feels strongly against the T20 matches. “I like Test cricket and One-Day matches. That is why I did not watch the IPL league,” he said. He aspires to make it through the IIT and become a computer engineer.
Subhajit Ghosh
Friends and family of 16-year-old Subhajit have just a complaint about him. He is a late riser. And to balance that, he studied late into the night till the wee hours of the morning. Today, after he scored 795 out of 800, his parents and teachers of Paharhati High School in Burdwan, have little to complain.
“I am a big cricket fan. So much so that if there is a cricket match on TV, I cannot concentrate in my studies,” he said. Subhajit wants to be a researcher in Physics.
Sanjukta Ghosal
Sanjukta of Bidhya Bharati Schoo is her grandmother’s darling. With a score of 795 out of 800, her dream of becoming a computer engineer does not seem too far.
“My biggest source of inspiration is my mother,” she said. Her mother, Dipti Ghoshal, said that they had expected her to do well but her results are beyond expectation. The calm and soft spoken student is also an artist and takes keen interest in Rabindrasangeet. “I studied for about 12 hours everyday and was very tense,” she said.
Arnab Chowdhury
His father owns a small furniture shop but Arnab Chowdhury of Barasat PCS Government School wants to be a renowned doctor one day. A resident of Hridaypur, Arnab is confident and very determined. He has scored 788 out of 800. “Determination is key to my success. I will appear for the Joint Entrance Examination but I am determined to qualify in the medical examination and bag a seat in the Medical College,” he said. He said that he studied for 10 to 12 hours of sincere effort to score well.
