Kolkata, May 30 A major fire broke out in a leather unit located in Tangra in the south-eastern part of the city on Friday.

The fire was caused by a short-circuit in the tolking machine, used for ironing the processed leather sheets in the manufacturing unit, informed a fire brigade officer.

Five fire tenders managed to put-off the blaze in two hours.

“The fire broke out at a time when nearly 150 people were working and it is fortunate that all of them came out successfully,” said the officer, while confirming that there were no casualties reported in the incident.
