The bank, located barely 100 metres from the office of Purulia’s Superintendent of Police Ashok Prasad, had just opened for business, when eight armed men burst into the premises, held all at gunpoint and made away with Rs 84,13,815 in cash. They had come in motorcycles with no number plates, and had waylaid the lone security guard before he could even reach for his weapon.
