Kolkata, June 23 Members of the Central Gurdwara Committee took to the streets on Monday to protests against the death of Sikh businessman Balkar Singh Bhatti.

Bhatti was shot dead by a private security guard of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on June 20.

The committee also submitted a memorandum to Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee outlining a list of their demands.

They demanded the immediate arrest of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief, alleging that he had instructed his personal guards to fire at Bhatti. The memorandum also stated that the state government should not allow Singh to enter the state.

“He has committed a heinous crime. So, he should not be spared,” said Satnam Singh, the general secretary of the committee.
