Pak confirms Champions League Twenty20 participation

Karachi, July 4: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday confirmed their participation in the Champions Trophy Twenty20 tournament to be held in India later in 2008.

PCB Chairman Nasim Ashraf said he has got a formal invitation from Indian Premier League Chairman Lalit Modi and Pakistan will send two teams in the 10 million dollar mega event, which will have top two domestic teams from five countries.

"They have invited us to send two teams whenever the league is held. We will join teams from Australia, India, South Africa and England," he said at a press conference in Karachi.

Ashraf said Pakistan was in the final stages of announcing its Super League Twenty20 competition which he said is likely to be held in September next year.

"We are looking to making the event a big success and in line with our culture. We are confident we will have international players and sponsors for it.

"To promote young talent, it would be mandatory for teams to have three or four Under 23 players in their sides and play at least two of them," he added.
