"It is wrong to say that I am launching my home production because my career is going nowhere. Of the two films I plan to produce every year, I may not fit into any of the characters," Shilpa said in Mumbai on Monday.
Shilpa said her experience as an actress will come handy to make her home banner, an established one in the industry.
"If you have planned your moves, nothing is difficult. I have to live up to my own expectations," she added. Shilpa said her first film, an action comedy, under her banner S2 Global productions to be directed by Manish Jha was in advanced stage of scripting and will be launched later this year.
Shilpa said she had not planned to further her career in UK after Big Brother win. "I had never thought I would win," she added.
"I was offered to host TV shows, films and television serials in Britain. But, I could not devote my full time there because of my commitments in Mumbai. But, the media wrote that no good offers were coming my way. Surely, I was not expected to give a list of offers which I was unable to take up because of my commitments in the UK," she added.
According to Shilpa, she would prefer to be a first class citizen of India and work here rather than a struggler overseas.
"I am happy and content with whatever I have achieved without the backing of any big banners in the industry. One cannot do anything and everything. My last two films – Apne and Metro have been successful and people recognise me as an actor. What more do I want?," she asked.
Speaking about her yoga DVDs, Shilpa said yoga was a popular science and art form catching up in the west.
"Celebrity fitness DVDs are a norm in the UK and I was also approached to come out with a fitness DVD. I chose yoga because I have been doing it for few years," she added.
"Being an actress, the DVD has an added advantage which has been specially made for the international audiences," she said, adding, in UK, the DVDs have met with an overwhelming response and were released in select Indian cities last month.
According to Shilpa, people are more aware of fitness today and the DVDs have come at the right time. "Lifestyles have become unhealthy in present times. It is important to adopt a holistic way of healthy living," she added.
Speaking about her own experience with Yoga, Shilpa said yoga was the reason behind her glow and fitness. "I had suffered from spondilitis a few years ago because of too much stress and overwork. There was too much of wear and tear in me because of my dancing in films. Routine practice of yoga has helped me to overcome this problem," she added.
Shilpa said she was currently shooting for Sunny Deol's The Man which completed a long schedule in Goa last week.
