Monsoon surprises state, albeit pleasantly

Vadodara, July 28 After a prolonged dry spell, the monsoon is back with a bang. Almost all the six districts in central Gujarat received moderate to heavy rainfall on Monday, dispelling the drought fears of the farmers to quite an extent. No casualty has been reported so far by the state flood control centre.

In the last 24 hours, Anand, Kheda, Vadodara, Bharuch, Narmada and Panchmahals received heavy showers throughout the day while Dahod did not receive any rainfall.

In Vadodara, Dabhoi taluka registered 75 mm of rains, Karjan 27 mm, Naswadi 11 mm, Padra 43 mm, Savli 36 mm, Sankheda 41 mm, Sinor 15 mm, Vadodara city 51 mm and Waghodia 67 mm.

In Anand, Anand city registered 11 mm of rains, Borsad 18 mm, Cambay 17 mm, Petlad 41 mm, Sojitra 45 mm, Tarapur 20 mm and Anklav 10 mm.

In Panchmahals, Godhra taluka registered 10 mm, Halol 35 mm, Jambughoda 23 mm, Kalol 61 mm and Shera 15 mm of rains.

In Bharuch district, Amod received 22 mm, Bharuch city 21 mm, Vagra 70 mm and Jhagadia recorded 66 mm rains.

Nanod and Tilakwada talukas in Narmada district received 52 mm and 26 mm of rainfall respectively.

In Kheda district, Nadiad registered 82 mm, Matar 63 mm, Kheda 76 mm. Mehmedabad 72 mm, Mahudha 136 mm, Kathlal 178, Kapadvanj 176 mm, Virpur 38 mm, Balasinor 61 mm and Thasra taluka recorded 100 mm of rains.
