Pune District Chess Association distributes scholarships

Pune, August 05 The Pune District Chess Association on Monday felicitated 24 players from various age groups who were winners at the state level. Each participant was awarded an annual scholarship of Rs 7,200.

Gaurdian Minister for water resources Ajit Pawar distributed the scholarships, while Municipal commissioner Praveensinh Pardeshi was the chief guest at the function held at Patrakar Bhavan.

Anil Bhonsale, president of Pune District Amateur Athletic Association Bharat Desdala, Chess Association president Laxmikant Khabiya, vice president Shrikant Patil, and veteran chess player Bhausaheb Padsalgikar, were also present.Ajit Pawar felicitated Padsalgikar, who received a lifetime achievement award. He was also awarded Rs 11,000 by the Sharda Sports and Cultural Association.
