According to the police, the incident occurred around 8.45 am on Saturday when two workers of Amaxin Company were going to deposit the money in HDFC Bank in Nehru Place near the CNG station.
When the duo, Mahesh Aggarwal and Kewal Talwar reached R-block of Kalkaji, they were allegedly intercepted by three unidentified motorcycle-borne criminals.
“Mahesh and Kewal, who were also on a bike, sensed trouble and tried to change direction. However, the trio tried to snatch the bag in their hands. Mahesh was driving and Kewal was holding the bag,” the police said.
The police added one of the robbers stabbed Kewal’s knee due to which the two fell off the bike and the criminals escaped with the bag carrying the cash. Though they tried to chase them, the criminals fled.
Later, a call was made to the police around 9.30 am. When police reached the spot, Kewal was taken to hospital.
Amaxin is an import-export company based in East of Kailash. The owner is one R K Dhawan.
The police said that Mahesh and Kewal used to make at least 10 visits to the bank in the day to deposit or withdraw the cash. The police suspect an insider’s hand as the robbed amount was insured.
The police denied the involvement of the Bunty gang as no firearms were used in the
incident. “The Bunty gang is armed and can’t possibly be involved in the incident,” a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered with the local police station and the police are interrogating Mahesh, Kewak and other company workers for clues. No arrests were made till late evening.
