The prosecution in the case is seeking the maximum punishment of 10 years' jail term for Nanda, while the defence counsel is seeking Nanda's release on probation.
"Deterrent punishment is need of the hour, so that a right message is sent across the society to all future potential offenders," Public Prosecutor Rajiv Mohan said.
The court, on September 2, had held Sanjeev Nanda guilty under Section 304 (Part II) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC for killing six persons with a BMW car on the wee hours of January 10, 1999 at Lodhi Road in south Delhi.
