Sania, who skipped US Open, dropped 21 places in one week with 380 points and runs the risk of moving out of top-100 for the first time since 2004.
Sania has been forced to miss entire clay court season including the French Open and then left her singles Olympics campaign mid-way due to the niggling wrist injury.
She also lost seven positions in her doubles ranking, dropping to 44 with 949 points.
Meanwhile, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi stuck to their 16th and 12th positions respectively in ATP men's doubles rankings.
Paes is likely to move up the ladder after finishing runners-up along with partner Lukas Dlouhy in US Open.
