Nagpur, October 11: VHP does not expect the Centre to impose a ban on Bajrang Dal.

"Even though Union Ministers Ram Vilas Paswan and Lalu Prasad have demanded that the Centre should ban Bajrang Dal, another Union Minister Hansraj Bhardwaj has found no evidence of Bajrang Dal's involvement in the violence and thus there is no chance of Centre imposing a ban," VHP president Ashok Singhal said.

He criticised Paswan and Prasad for demanding the ban on Bajrang Dal.

Singhal alleged that Christians had hatched a deep-rooted conspiracy to kill Swami Lakhamananda in Kandhmal with the help of Maoists who are Christians.

He said that Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was not aware of the conspiracy and VHP provided him with minutes of a Church meeting in May, 2008 in which the decision to eliminate the Swami was taken.

"We strongly feel there is a nexus between Christians and Maoists and the latter supplied arms and ammunitions to Christians in Orissa," Singhal said.

To a question, as to why VHP has not so far condemned the violence in Orissa, Singhal said, "I am no Mahatma Gandhi nor I want to become Gandhi."

He said Muslim and Christian communities should learn to live with majority Hindus in the country.
